POISON ALERT: OPC warns of possible contaminants in street drug supply
Contaminated Street Drug Supply
The Ontario Poison Centre has recently become aware of possible contaminants in the street drug supply and wish to make Ontarians aware of the risks. Reports from US poison centres indicate that synthetic cannabinoids, often known as "spice" or "incense" and labelled "not for human consumption" have been contaminated with long-acting anti-coagulants, resulting in at least three deaths. In Canada, the herbal preparation known as kratom has been found to be contaminated with salmonella, leading to significant illness.
To learn more about these two contaminants, read the OPC alert.
