Nursing Leadership Invitation: OPC NAC Protocol Rollout Planning
Dear Nursing Colleagues,
The Ontario Poison Centre (OPC) is preparing for the rollout of a revised IV N-acetylcysteine (NAC) protocol for the treatment of acetaminophen poisoning, with a planned launch date of April 1, 2026.
Following a series of productive roundtable discussions with pharmacists across Ontario, Manitoba, and Nunavut, we are now inviting nursing leadership to participate in a similar session. While the protocol has been finalized, your insights are critical as we shift our focus to implementation planning.
The goals of this session are to:
- Provide an overview of the finalized NAC protocol and key changes.
- Identify the supports, resources, or communications needed to ensure a smooth and safe rollout at your organization- with patient safety as our top priority.
We will host 60-minute virtual sessions via Zoom on four separate dates in September and October. If you’re interested in participating, you only need to attend one session; multiple options are being offered to maximize flexibility and participation.
Please sign up using the form below. Invitations will include the Zoom link, and the revised protocol + supporting resources will be provided in advance. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,
The OPC Toxicology Team
