Further Update on British Anti-Lewisite (BAL) Shortage
The Ontario Poison Centre continues to receive calls from concerned hospital pharmacists regarding soon-to-be expired stock of the chelator known as British Anti-Lewisite, or BAL.
We have recently learned that the company that previously supplied this antidote has filed for bankruptcy and BAL is unlikely to become available for some time. The centre provides some recommendations for alternative therapies in the document below.
