New Antidote Guidelines

The Ontario Poison Centre has revised its guidelines for stocking of recommended antidotes in acute care settings. Dosing is listed as the amount needed to treat an average 100 kg patient in the first eight hours of therapy. The guidelines indicate which antidotes need to be immediately available and which ones can be available within 60 minutes.

As always, the amount of drug stocked in any setting will depend on variables reflecting the patient population served and the number of exposures frequently treated.

Visit our Antidotes page to read the full guidelines.
